In comparison to rehabilitation and replacement options, removal of the Grayling Mill Pond Dam was very cost effective to construct and maintain, with a total project cost of $391,925. Perhaps more importantly, obtaining funding for the removal of the dam was much more realistic, as funding for dam repair is steadily decreasing. With the support of several state agencies and legislators, the project was funded in part by the Sport Fish Restoration Act
